For as long as I can remember music has been a part of my life. My mom always cranked up the radio when she cleaned our house. Even now as I write this I can almost smell the scent of Pine-Sol as Marvin Gaye’s soulful voice fills my ears. A cool breeze blows through the screen door and I’m in my house on Decatur. Sun shining through the picture window lighting up the living room. Ah…home.
Growing up there were many parties where the smell of booze and cigarette smoke filled the air. I loved when my family hit that sweet buzz and the volume on the radio doubled and requests were shouted out. They played air guitars while belting out The Beatles, Elvis, Devo, and the ENTIRE Mowtown catalog. They were rock stars to me. My cousins and I carried on the tradition when we got older. We rocked out to 80’s hair bands and the same Mowtown catalog.
Pauly opened my ears and heart to country music. He loves to play me old country songs when we drive to Wyoming. The lyrics can be kooky but he knows every word. He’s all about the songs telling a story. The Devil Went Down To Georgia is my favorite. I can almost see Johnny sawin on that fiddle. We like new country too. We love how feisty Miranda Lambert is and how can you not love Toby Keith?! We mix that with a little 80’s hair bands and alcohol and we become rock stars too!
Music fills the kitchen when we cook and blasts on the front porch when we drink. We love all types of music and will post about new songs, old favorites, and maybe a playlist or two, so stay tuned!
